It has come to our attention that individuals falsely representing themselves as government officials or representatives of the AirBit Victim Fund (\u201cAVF\u201d) are contacting individuals who have filed, or may have filed, petitions with the AVF. These individuals are falsely informing petitioners that their petition has been approved and that, in order to receive a distribution payment from the AVF, the petitioner must complete certain \u201ccompliance\u201d requirements. In particular, the perpetrators are requesting that victims send cash or cryptocurrency to complete a purported \u201cfederal compliance step\u201d or otherwise facilitate the release of their distribution payment.<\/p>\n
Under no circumstances will the U.S. Department of Justice or the AVF require a petitioner to pay money or cryptocurrency in order to participate in the AVF remission program or to receive a distribution payment.<\/p>\n

If you receive a communication requesting payment in connection with your AVF petition or distribution, do not provide any funds or cryptocurrency.
